For several weeks/months I’d been having a dream that I hadn’t been taking all the medication that was prescribed to me.  I would wake up and go through a mental checklist — and yes, I’d taken the correct medications, but there was a gnawing feeling that something was missing.  Then, God brought to mind what I’d read in “Healing Scriptures” by Joyce Meyer:

God’s Word is a healing agent, just as natural medicine is a healing agent or catalyst. Inherent within God’s Word is the capacity, the energy, the ability, and the nature to effect healing in your body.We might say that medicine is no respector of persons. It will work for anyone who takes it. Medicine must be taken according to directions to be effective. Some medicine labels read, “Take internally”; others say, “Take externally.” To rub it on your body externally when the directions say to take it internally will not work. To take it after meals when the directions say take it before meals will reduce its effectiveness. To take it once in a while when the directions say three times a day will mean limited results, if any. No matter how good the medicine is, it must be taken according to the directions or it won’t work. So it is with God’s medicine. It must be taken according to directions for it to work.

God’s Word — truly a medication that I can’t take too much of.  I’ve upped my Word dosage and the dream has stopped.  I’m humbled because I can readily recall a Friday when I spent at least four hours on the phone (in tears) because I wasn’t able to get my prescription for Octreotide filled — I hadn’t been showing that tenacity in getting ahold of God’s Word.

God’s Word is a Medicine
